The Dreaded Thanksgiving Bloat

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Most bloggers post about pre-thanksgiving tips: making food, decorating, preparing for guests, etc. While all those posts are useful, I always struggle with how to get over the post-Thanksgiving bloat that results from all the sodium-loaded Thanksgiving foods. Which, by the way, is not a pretty sight. Is your face feeling as round and plump as that turkey from yesterday? Try the following tips!

1. Hydrate: drinking water will help remove sodium from your body. It's easy to forget to drink water during the holiday season, when there are so many other delicious drinks, but keep refilling up that water bottle!

2. Potassium: potassium counteracts sodium, so eat some more bananas and leafy greens. Try a banana-apple-spinach smoothie. (1 cup spinach, 1 large apple, 1 ripe banana, and 1/2 cup cold water)

3. Exercise: Let your body sweat out any toxins. Maybe you've already done this, however, while black friday shopping.

4. Fruits/Veggies: cut back on the sodium and let your body recover while eating more fruits and vegetables!

I wish everyone a great weekend, and stay safe during the black friday mobs. Meanwhile, I will be online browsing in my pajamas, while drinking my green smoothie.
